Here you can find some tips on how to upgrade the performance of your computer and how to set it up so it can be more accessible to fit your needs.

Scandisk and Defrag are important utilities that come with Windows, to help you tune up your Windows file system and make sure it's running properly. Scandisk checks your drive to make sure there aren't any problems with it, and Defrag (short for Disk Defragmenter) organizes your file system to help Windows read files faster. You can usually find Scandisk and Defrag on your Start menu under "Programs" then "Accessories" and "System Tools". Just like you periodically get your oil changed in your car, you should run Scandisk and Defrag now and then, to keep everything running smoothly.

A browser's default page
depends on where you got the software. If you obtained it from Netscape or Microsoft, the home page is usually a page on the website of one of these two companies. If your browser came with a new computer, the default home page might be that of the manufacturer. It could also be that of your Internet service provider if it provided your browser software. If it was installed by your company, the home page may be your company or department page.
Depending on your personal preference, you can reset the home page to any one you like, whether it provides serious information or is just plain fun. It might be a home page you visit every morning, such as a news site or a website related to your work. Whichever home page you select, you can return to it at any time by clicking the Home button on the toolbar. If you use Internet Explorer, first go to the page you want. Now click on the Tools menu, then select Internet Options. Click on the General tab. Finally, click on the Use Current button. You can also type in the address of the page. For instance, if you want @Home to be your home page, enter the complete address, like this: http://www.Athomecomputerrepair.com

Most computer problems are fixed with a simple reboot. This allows your system to start fresh and eliminates any problems that may have been present in RAM.

The Start menu
is a great place to put important shortcuts to essential web-sites, folders, or often used control panel options. For example to place an Add-Remove Programs shortcut in the Start menu. Click Start, go to settings and then click control panel. Drag (left click hold and move) Add-Remove Programs, or whichever you want, to the Start button and let go. The shortcut will automatically be placed in the Start menu. Now whenever you press Start it will be in the top selections. If there's more than one there, you can arrange the order by left-click-hold and move up or down.
